The Hiroshima and Nagasaki incident were the most sinful act done by humanity undoubtedly. Why was it done? what were its consequences and effects? who was responsible? who suffered? This article answers the questions. Know about the consequences and all that could have happened if Japan would have not taken its steps backwards. How could a country be so insensitive to wash off the beliefs of the people from humanity?
After the surrender of Germany the WWII came to an end but japan was not ready to accept the defeat. It became more active after defeat. So the pacific war continued. Japan was told to surrender by the US but it refused to, the US military threatened the Japanese with "prompt and utter destruction", but the Japanese government ignored it. American aircraft 'Enola Gay' dropped the 'Little Boy' on 6 August 1945 at Hiroshima which blasted in the air increasing the intensity of the bomb this was followed by the Fat Man bomb which was blasted on 9 August in Nagasaki. The number of deaths within the first two to four months of the bombings, the acute effects killed 90,000– - 166,000 people in Hiroshima and 60,000–80,000 in Nagasaki. The bomb was not the only cause, flame burns, radioactive radiations, other physical injuries all killed the civilians of the cities. Japan surrendered before the Enemies signing the Instrument of Surrender which officially ended the 2nd World War. The Japan adopted non-nuclear principles after the war. |
During the bombing the situation in japan was of a big chaos. The people were in a state of big shock, not only in the bombed cities but across the globe, no one could have ever imagined such a tragic situation. It was just another afternoon in Hiroshima when some inspection planes passed over Hiroshima, then came the bomber with the little boy and turned the Hiroshima to the burning city turning the temperature to as high as 1500 degrees. The people outdoors were vaporized in less than a second and the chain reaction that was created continued to destroy everything that came into its path. The city was totally washed out with flames and radiation. The city was completely thrown off the map.
The shock wave could be felt from 20 Kms away. The post attack casualties were high in number, there were around 1900 cancer deaths. There were deaths due to leukemia and radiations. The people who survived this chaos tell about the attack to the next generations. |
If Japan would have not surrendered after the Nagasaki attack, US would have dropped more bombs. They had planned the next bombs and they were to be dropped in September and October, three of the bombs together twice, if that would have happened then Japan would have been erased off the world map.
Tsutomu Yamaguchi was a survivor of both the bombings. There were trains filled with refugees which went from Hiroshima to Nagasaki, when the bomb was dropped Tsutomu was in one of the train which was 3 Km from ground zero. He had fatal burns due to the blast but he survived. He reached Nagasaki on 8th and was lucky enough to survive that blast too. He died in 2010 due to stomach cancer the cause being the radiation itself.
The situation in Japan is much better now, it has overcome the incident and is very strong. The Japanese can never forget the day when the two major cities were destroyed in seconds. Even after such devastation the world has not stopped the production of nuclear weapons. The WW III will certainly finish earth and end all the life. The destroyers of humanity are humans themselves.
